Abstract
The paper presents the results of an experimental study of a low-pressure high-frequency inductive jet discharge interacting with a liquid electrode and the surface of a metal sample manufactured by additive manufacturing. The hydrodynamic and electrophysical conditions for the formation of a plasma-liquid discharge in the "liquid jet - plasma - solid" system are considered. It is shown that a change in pressure in the range of 0.1–0.7 kgf/cm² leads to a significant change in the jet outflow velocity and its flow regime, which has a decisive effect on the structure and stability of the discharge. It is found that the electric power of the RFI jet discharge at a fixed pressure increases nonlinearly with increasing current and reaches values of the order of 1 kW. The surface morphology of the samples before and after plasma-liquid treatment is studied; a decrease in roughness parameters and an increase in the surface cleanliness class according to GOST are demonstrated. A change in surface wettability, accompanied by an increase in the contact angle, was detected, as well as an increase in surface layer microhardness by more than 10%. The obtained results demonstrate the possibility of controlled modification of the morphological, interfacial, and mechanical properties of the surface of additively manufactured metal products using a jet RFI discharge.
