Engineering design of the radiating structure in a multifunctional APAA

Abstract
Based on the previously developed technical concept of a multifunctional active phased array antenna (APAA), the design of the radiating array is carried out. To confirm the feasibility of scanning over a wide bandwidth, an electrodynamic analysis of the antenna array is performed, and the matching level of the radiators and gain losses are evaluated. The principles of control and synthesis of specialized radiation patterns (RP) for the multifunctional APAA are formulated. A description is provided of proprietary specialized software used to synthesize RPs using a limited number of APAA radiators — that is, non equidistant array excitation. The results of RP synthesis and studies of its stability during the scanning process under statistical variation of control element parameters are presented.
